Gilded Wings Blog Tour: read-along, guest post & giveaway

The Beloved Angel-Warrior Team from Until Next Time Returns!

Here is our excerpt for the read along:

The butler came to a sudden stop. So quickly that Anya, who was lost in thought, ran directly into the back of him. The butler righted himself and straightened his coat. The look on his face was clear. With no words, he let Anya know that her slight touch had jarred something in his stomach; the sudden contact from a dirty immigrant seemed to have made him sick.

Brighton cleared his throat and spoke in a chilly voice, “This will be the boy’s room.”

Gregori’s eyes grew wide as the door swung open and he stared into the dark, cavernous space.

The voice was strong and commanding behind him, ordering him into the room. “Your bed is next to the wall, boy. You can clean up later. Master Myles is in there sleeping and you are not to wake him. You may introduce yourself in the morning.

Gregori looked anxiously at Anya. She tried her best to offer a reassuring smile. “Go ahead. You’ve already showered, so just lie down and get some sleep. You’ve had a long journey and you need your rest.”

Gregori swallowed hard and tiptoed carefully over the threshold.

Brighton moved quickly to close the door but Anya grabbed his wrist. “Let him find the bed so he does not stumble and wake Master Myles.”

The butler recoiled and backed away from the chill in her voice.

Anya watched Gregori move slowly to the far wall. He laid down on the empty bed that was now apparent in the moonlight filtering through the window. “Spokoinoi nochi, liubimyi,” Anya whispered good night to her little love.

Gregori flashed a brave smile as she closed the door.

When Matt and Emily are sent on their second mission they have no idea how truly dark human nature can become...

Emily never wanted to face humans again. With the heartache that went on down below, she’s still trying to figure out how to save souls that don’t deserve saving. The only one she wants to see again is Jason - the young man she fell in love with who became the soulmate she simply can’t forget...

Matt was trained to protect and defend the souls down below. Longing to feel the heartfelt emotions that come from being human, Matt wants nothing more than to have just one life - one chance - to live and love the girl of his dreams...

The powerful team find themselves in a brand new century, living in the Gilded Age of New York City. Emily takes over the body of Anya, a young Russian girl who arrives on Ellis Island after a hideous tragedy. There she meets up with a strangely familiar young man by the name of Drew Parrish, who helps Anya survive in an unknown world of luxury, snobbery and…obsession.

What Anya’s inner angel doesn’t know is that the soul she loves is also back. This time around Jason goes by the name of Max Carrow. Once a quiet and kind boy, he’s now part of the ‘Four Hundred Club,’ and wants nothing more than to be among the most admired as he climbs the shaky ladder of society’s elite.

As two worlds merge, Emily and Matt struggle under the weight of their “Gilded Wings.” Not only will they have to figure out who they should fight to save, but they must also face a romantic choice that could destroy them both.

What’s Wrong With eBooks?

Answer: Absolutely nothing.

Yes, I am a library lover. I love having the book in my hand and the new smell book ‘smell’ coming off the pages…it’s like a drug to me (a cheap and safe one, at that). But the world of 2012 is run on social media. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, the fantastic bloggers, reviewers and websites out there, Goodreads - THESE sites are where consumers come to make their decisions and to ‘talk’ about what’s new, fresh and the next book they want to read.

Kindle and Nook are not ‘flashes in the pan.’ Even the ‘biggest of the big’ authors are coming out and saying that their sales on Kindle are far outweighing their bookstore sales. Not a shock, considering the fact that books carry a heavy price sometimes of $29.99 or above. Why pay that in this economy when you can get the exact same product for $2.99?

But it’s not only price where eBooks corner the market, it’s also the absolute ease of purchase. There is no running around the library or having your name put on waiting lists for when that new book that you ‘must read’ is already out of copes at the library. There is also no pawing through bookstores and having to find the title, let alone then having to pay for it. The quality of Kindle and Nook - and the whole eBook realm - is also extremely good. The covers, pages, everything is just as amazing and easy-to-read as if it were a hardcover in your hand (well, for people who have better eyesight than I currently do. LOL)

Another monumental plus with eBooks is the fact that new, rising authors are able to get their product out there without, again, the heavy costs that come along with the world of print.

By being able to understand and utilize social media to its full advantage, an author of eBooks can become a popular author by word of mouth, online reviews, ‘the kindness of strangers’ when it comes to amazing bloggers and websites that are there to help the author if their book is a good read. So, yes…I know we all want that fairytale story…

“I sent my query to an agent and the very first one took the book. The next week it was picked up by Random House and the money came pouring in. Now, I’m a NY Times Bestseller.”

THAT would be a great story to be able to tell, but in 99% of the cases, that is a story aimed at a fiction market, not non-fiction.

So if you run across those odd looks where people say: “What do you mean it’s not in print? It’s just an eBook?” Don’t get down on yourself. The eBooks are taking over this industry. Do I believe print is dead? Absolutely not! But with more and more consumers turning to the online world for their next ‘great’ download, print is becoming only one ‘choice’ out of many for authors when it comes to getting their story out there to the world.

I’ve seen the looks, guys and gals, and although I used to feel saddened by the fact that they thought since by book was only online that it meant it wasn’t a real book - now I know better. EBooks may not quite be the ‘King,’ but they are most definitely the ‘Prince!’ And you know what that means…they are next in line for the ultimate throne.

Until Next Time, Everybody,
Amy

Until Next Time: The Angel Chronicles, Book 1
How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.
