Tribute Books Tour: Ding Dong The Diva's Dead

Reader Girls welcomes a book tour today run by Tribute Books for one of their author's latest releases, Ding Dong The Diva's Dead by Cat Melodia.

Ding Dong The Diva's Dead Description:

A Debbie de Lille Murder Mystery

Deborah de Lille is an opera singer—in the least grand sense. Debbie doesn’t foresee a future beyond Handel Messiahs and low-budget tours ... until her agent finagles her a minor role with a small-town company. Offenbach’s spooky opera, Tales of Hoffmann, features three leading ladies. The cast is all too well-acquainted, and familiarity has bred contempt. Debbie is theoutsider, and someone is hell-bent on driving her out with smoke bombs, ghostly visitations, and booby-traps. Will opening night mean "curtains" for Debbie?

Our thoughts: A behind the scenes look at the trials and tribulations of putting on an opera, filled with laughs and a murder mystery too. Cat Melodia gives us an insider's view at all of the backstage shenanigans by filling her story with a rich cast of characters. What a zany bunch of egotistical, talented, selfish troupe our heroine opera singer Deborah de Lille has to deal with. As a performer accustomed to the stages of smaller venues, she believes fame may finally be attainable with this new show, The Tales of Hoffman. Little does she know this 'tales' would be of offstage deceit, pettiness and murder.

With a small role in the show, Debbie soon finds herself disliked by the group's divas and targeted for 'accidents'. Why her and who can she trust to make it through the show alive? Ding Dong The Diva's Dead had so many laugh out loud moments and an amazingly realistic depiction of the opera life as only one who has lived it can attest to. Though I didn't really connect with the characters, they always remained 'characters' to me, I did enjoy the opera mystery.

Ding Dong The Diva's Dead is a fast paced whodunit featuring a cast of quirky characters and many humorous moments.

Rating: I liked it.

We thank Cat Melodia and Tribute Books.
