Shadow Hills Blog Tour Stop

Shadow Hills is a YA paranormal thriller filled with danger, intrigue, mystery and romance. For those of our readers who have not read Anastasia Hopcus' debut novel, here's the summary:  After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandons her bubbly LA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA -- a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned in her last diary entry before she died.

Once there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her new town. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of its citizens in the 1700s, but its modern townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach -- the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after -- seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately linked to those who reside in Shadow Hills.

ReaderGirls welcome Anastasia Hopcus, author of Shadow Hills to our blog during her Book Tour. Ms. Hopcus is here today to answer some questions about her debut novel which has been receiving great reviews throughout the blogosphere. . . .Well, since we loved Shadow Hills so much (our review can be found here) we decided to ask main characters Phe and her boyfriend Zach some
questions.

Welcome Anastasia, Phe and Zach!

For Phe: Do you ever think you'll be able to control those scary dreams of yours?

Phe: I'd really like to! That's one of the things that I'm hoping I can learn more about in the book that Sarah gave me. Plus, as I've realized that my dreams can help me figure things out, I think I'm handling them a little better. They're still pretty frightening, but at least now I can use them.

For Zack and Phe: Are you worried either of you may be punished since you told her the secret of the BV's?

Zach: I'm not sure. It's really something that we're taught from an early age never to do, so normally I would say yes. But with as much as Phe has seen already, I don't think they can really think Phe is ignorant of everything about us.

Phe: I worry about it. But I'm not going to tell anyone anything. And, I mean, with everything that happened, there's plenty of reason for me to know about their secrets without Zach having told me.

For Phe: Will you ask Zach to help you figure out what really happened to your sister?

Phe: Well, unfortunately I know what happened to her. It seems clear that it was an accident. But I would still like to find out how she discovered Shadow Hills and why she wanted to come here so much. If we can think of some way Zach could help me do that, it'd be great.

For Zack: Now that you know Phe possesses some kind of her own supernatural power, do you feel threatened by her?

Zach: No! (He laughs.) I never know what Phe is going to come up with next; that's one of the things that's so cool about her.

For Zack: What would or could you do if any of the Banished returned to Shadow Hills?

Zach: Well, hopefully that won't happen, but if they did come back, that would definitely be an issue for the Council to deal with. I'd leave it up to them---except, of course, I'd do whatever it takes to make sure the Banished don't come near Phe.

We can't wait to read what happens with Phe and Zack in Shadow Hills.

Shadow Hills (published by EgmontUSA, 400 pages) is available now. We hope you will purchase it and support our authors. Thanks to Phe, Zach, Ms. Hopcus and EgmontUSA.
