Tempting Tristan is the third book in author Melissa Foster's Harborside Nights series. Since this is my third trip to this picturesque seaside town, I've already met and liked Tristan. He's a good guy with a big heart which seems to get hurt often from being with the wrong guy. This time around, my favorite Taproom restaurant bartender is taking a break from guys and dating. That is until Alex comes into the bar. The wounded soldier with PTSD issues is hot and very tempting to Tristan but since he's supposed to be on 'dating vakay', he tries to keep his distance. Alex, very much the alpha, has some issues to deal with, including anger, and both guys are instantly drawn to one another. Can Tristan keep to himself? Guess what happens.

I've enjoyed this series and as much as I liked this one--especially with the fabulous chemistry between the guys--I found some areas lacking and others rushed. Insta-love is okay in YA but I do expect more when it comes to adult relationships, especially when one half of the couple is either broken or damaged. I didn't find the characters and their relationship  as well developed as in the first two books. I had a hard time really championing these two. As much as I like Tristan, his character seemed almost too-together, too Mr. Perfect here. I also wondered about conflict, about their problems, their issues, and how things seemed to come together too soon. As for the plot, points were introduced and then didn't seem to go anywhere. 

Writing sexy, romantic scenes to curl the reader's toes is one of Foster's strongest talents and, once again, I thought this couple's 'sizzle' was off the charts. Their chemistry could burn the book pages. Unfortunately, chemistry and sex aren't the only ingredients in a successful contemporary romance. Besides conflict, drama, angst, build-up, along with solution or resolution, we need to watch the couple do one important thing: fall in love. There wasn't enough of that. I needed more to get behind Tristan and Alex. Even with their alternating POV's, I didn't get inside their heads enough to truly feel for them.

It was great to see characters from the other books here and find out how they're faring. The bottom line is my stay in Harborside wasn't as good as my other trips, but I'm a fan of the author and I don't think one bump will keep me from returning in the future.
