In anticipation of the latest release in The Lords of the Underworld series, THE DARKEST TORMENT (available June 2016!) by Gena Showalter, the entire series is being touted on a special blog tour hosted by TLC Book Tours. I haven't read a Lords of the Underworld book in years. When reading a series one has to commit to keeping track of each new release and since there are many (MANY) series to choose from, I couldn't commit to this one. This series has such an interesting premise centering around a group of immortal men who are each dealing with a trapped devil inside of them. Since they have individual names based on the things released from Pandora's Box, their specific trait becomes their identifying so to say. 

In The Darkest Touch Torin is the host body to Disease. Since he can't touch people or he'll kill them, he is a virigin. Again, another interesting premise since the guys of this group are generally badass and hot. When the story begins Torin has just killed someone he liked, Mari. She was the closest friend to Keeleycael, The Red Queen, who after she discovers her friend's demise, is quite upset with Torin. So upset she threatens to kill him in a truly horrible way. What a way to make an impression. As the saying goes, opposites attract, and as I read understood these two aren't so different. 

Torin and Keeley have an interesting relationship which has its moments. Since I've only read one book in this series, I wasn't familiar with the other characters who show up or references to past events. A reader of the series would get these things quicker. I found some parts a bit slow and grew tired of Torin's indecisive nature, but Showalter has a knack for keeping readers interested by giving her stories twists and turns in what is usually a formulaic field. The couple definitely had chemistry and I liked them both. I just didn't have that connection to them that I have for other couples and I attribute that to my not having read the preceeding books. Otherwise, The Darkest Touch is a cool book with some intriguing characters and conflicts. I enjoyed it.
