My stay in the fictional town of Oleander may have been short but it sure was memorable. Author Mia Hopkins packs a lot of heat and romance on the pages of her novella. Cora sucked me into her story with her no nonsense voice and once Caleb came onto the scene I couldn't tear my eyes away from the pages. A determined young woman hell bent on leaving small town life behind sees a chance for a quick romance with the hunk she's been crushing on for years. Oh yeah, I'm there.
With her scholarship to Brown University, Cora is getting ready to leave Oleander while traveling heartbreaker cowboy Caleb has just returned to help out at home because his dad is sick. When Caleb enters the ice cream shop Cora works at she sees an opportunity to live a little before going away. What Caleb offers her is too good to refuse and this 'good girl' decides to give in and have some fun. Caution: hot, sexy times ahead!
Cowboy Valentine delivers a fast-paced, well-written smoking read. I enjoyed the story but found myself wishing for more: more pages, more character development and more story. These two are such an interesting couple and their growing relationship could have been explored more and nurtured. What we are treated to is sexy and fun and I only wished my stay in Oleander lasted a little longer.
