Blog tour for Martyr by A.R. Kahler with review and giveaway @ARKahler @SpencerHillP

Happy Hump Day! On this Wednesday we bring our readers a very cool fantasy book series from an author to keep a close eye on--A.R. Kahler. Yes, remember that name. We are a stop on the Martyr Blog Tour hosted by Me, My Shelf and I Book Tours. Thanks to Spencer Hill Press for bringing readers a superb crop of authors and their incredible books.

MARTYR
The Hunted Book One
Author: A.R. Kahler
Release Date: October 28th, 2014
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Young Adult

Three years have passed since magic destroyed the world.

Those who remain struggle to survive the monsters roaming the streets, fighting back with steel and magic—the very weapons that birthed the Howls in the first place.

Tenn is one such Hunter, a boy with the ability to harness the elements through ancient runes. For years, the Hunters have used this magic to keep the monsters at bay, but it's never been enough to truly win the war. Humans are losing.

When Tenn falls prey to an incubus named Tomás and his terrifying Kin, Tenn learns there's more to this than a fight for survival. He's a pawn in a bigger game, one with devastating consequences. If he doesn't play his part, it could cost him his life, his lover and his world.

Martyr The Hunted: Book One has been quite the surprise. A thrilling, completely engrossing surprise. When I signed up for this tour--simply for seeing the word "magic"--I had no idea the complexity of the worldbuilding, the interesting characters, the frightening monsters, the lovely romance, would make me completely invested in this book and awaiting the rest of the series. Consider me a book junkie and instant fan of A.R. Kahler.

Martyr has everything to please fantasy fans and that opening scene made me sit back, fully excited, as I eagerly plowed ahead into this story. Tenn is a cool character and it's refreshing to have someone gay as a lead and not a secondary character. Tenn is a Hunter surviving in a world destroyed by magic. He himself can control the elements by using runes, but is it enough? Sadly, no. Humans are no longer winning the war with these creatures and soon Tenn finds himself caught up with an incubus. Don't worry, there are no spoilers here, and don't worry that the word runes will bring up Mortal Instruments comparisons. Nope, not here.

Stories featuring magic and magic users and creatures always pique my interest. I loved the world Kahler created in Martyr, from the littlest details to sounds, which made it easy to fully realize these new places during my reading experience. The pacing was great, everything from dialogue to the tightly created characters and their cool names, the unique storylines and creepy creatures, they all came together to make this book totally unputdownable. My eyes couldn't read fast enough. A boy named Harry may have made magic a household word, and Kahler takes it even further by making this his own--an incredible diverse gift to readers and fans of fantasy. Can't wait to see what unfurls next.

About The Author

Alex is many things, but first and foremost, he’s a Sagittarius.
Born in Iowa and educated across the States, he’s taught circus in Amsterdam and Madrid, gotten madly lost in the Scottish wilderness, received his Masters in Creative Writing from Glasgow University, and drummed with Norse shamans. Sometimes he also walks about on stilts. Or sews. Or hammers tiny pieces of metal into pretty shapes.

When he’s not writing or climbing in the rafters, he’s probably drinking coffee. And seeing as he currently resides in Seattle, there’s coffee aplenty.
