Sydney was supposed to be in Hawaii on her honeymoon but when her impending nuptials were canceled (read the book), her best friend Sienna talked her into going anyway. Sienna is a smart gal. She convinces Sydney she needs to get away and have a tropical island fling. What better way to cure an ailing heart? Enter Jack, a hot, very alpha male, with instant designs on Sydney. Can she refuse this smoking guy with gorgeous eyes, a killer bod, and a sexy voice? Or is Sydney only going to make things worse by getting attached to a hunky stranger after her failed relationship to Michael?
Sienna is a great best friend. Loud mouthed, honest and wild, she shows Sydney how to have fun on the rebound. But spending time with Jack only increases Sydney's feelings for the magnetic guy. She may be inexperienced and shy, but this young woman knows what she wants and she wants Jack. Belong To You started off with an exciting premise. Two best friends go on a trip expecting to live out a fantasy for one week. Sun. Drinks. Fun. Casual sex. For Sydney, her only boyfriend was Michael so she's not accustomed to one night stands. Meeting Jack sets off sparks between them and soon they are inseparable. Jack does turn alpha pretty quick, growling at guys not to go near Sydney and keeping track of her, yet he does show off a surprising romantic side as well. Their one night fling becomes two nights then more. During this time Sydney sees different sides to Jack and before she knows it, departure day has arrived. Saying goodbye to her favorite bed mate is not easy. Back home in New York, Sydney returns to her job singing inside a hotel and going out with Sienna. She can't forget Jack. Can he forget her?
Belong To You started off strong, grabbing my interest and enticing me with Sydney and Jack's budding relationship. As things turned scorching, there were quite a few romantic scenes where Jack showed off his ability to talk dirty and act dominant. Sydney does turn the tables a couple of times by not always being submissive which was good--I'm tired of the whole good girl always giving in to a controlling guy. As quick paced as the story was, there wasn't much character development. I thought Sydney was a decent character but I didn't totally believe her singing scenes. I felt something was missing. Jack came across as too controlling for my tastes. He hasn't had many relationships and Sydney has to help him along the way. My favorite character was Sienna. Back in New York, the story slowed down as Sydney gets back to work and her real life. Jack does return and there were some interesting turn of events. I thought there were some nicely written romantic lines in this story. The ending seemed rushed and the cliffhanger was unexpected.
In Made For You, Sydney goes on the road with Sienna as the opening act for old friends, Kyle and Justin's band. Being apart from Jack may test their new relationship. Both have to face and deal with their insecurities: Sydney leaves Jack behind, worrying about porn siren Jenna and her feelings for her boss, while Jack wants to see Sydney chase her dream, even if life on the road includes two hot rocker guys. We already know how Sydney acted with Jenna in the first book and Jack literally growls any time a guy touches Sydney. They may be apart for parts of this book but when they do meet up, the sizzle is back. Also, tragedy strikes and lessons are learned.
The second book in the Cole series had its ups and downs. The pacing fluctuated, slowed down in parts by having the couple separated and by the recap of the first book. We do see more development in the characters, especially with Jack and the story line involving his father. Sydney and Jack's intense relationship continues with more anxiety and lots of drama. Seeing their feelings and their love increase added to their appeal. I have to admit this couple did grow on me. The author wrapped up their story at the end with an epilogue. Hopefully, Sienna will have her own series to satisfy readers who fell in love with her during the Cole series. Fans of romantic couples with steamy scenes and angst-filled relationships will enjoy Belong To You and Made For You. Falling in love with a millionaire playboy has just gotten easier.
