Emily Taylor needs a break. She's been working double shifts as a nurse just to pay the bills while trying to heal a broken heart. The last thing she needs is to fall for a patient.

About the author:
Alyssa Rose Ivy

Alyssa Rose Ivy is a Young Adult and New Adult author who loves to weave stories with romance and a southern setting. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. After years as a perpetual student, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.

I didn't know I was addicted to the Clayton Falls series until I realized I had read Wrecked the day after I received it. For me, that's unheard of. Not with my review schedule. And I read it in one sitting one quiet evening. The result? I LOVED it!

I really liked Derailed (my review), liked Veer (my review), and now I really loved Wrecked. I was anxiously awaiting Jake's story and author Alyssa Rose Ivy has finally given it to me. Thank you! There's always a soft spot in my reading heart for the so-called 'bad boys' and though I don't find Jake that 'bad', he's misunderstood because he keeps too much inside. He needs to vent and communicate. In Wrecked, Jake meets Emily and she's sporting a lot of concealed hurt. There's an instant attraction between them and as they date, they begin to loosen up and allow the other in.  Jake has to stop his drinking and Emily has to trust another man.

Wrecked is intensely emotional, totally engrossing (I mean, I was thinking about Jake as if he was a real guy as I read), and poignant. My only comment is the pacing was too fast in places and needed a slower transition. It was great seeing Jake change--WANT to change for a woman--but retain what makes him so attractive in the first place. His scenes with a certain young boy were touching. All around him he has witnessed his brother happily married and soon to be a dad and another friend has announced he's engaged. The set-up in the hospital was an ideal way for him to wake up and also meet his match with a certain caring nurse. Community service and coaching football helped bring out the playful side of Jake. Emily is sweet but tough, resilient, determined to provide for her family, yet yearning for the companionship of someone in her life. Both have secrets and there's some heartbreak. The end result is a story to smile about. Together, Jake and Emily make an ideal couple and they're my favorite Clayton Falls couple.

What I also enjoy about the series is the way Alyssa Rose Ivy captures that certain magic of small town living. Knowing your neighbors, having family close by, mom and pop businesses--this is old-fashioned community and all of this provides the heart and soul of Clayton Falls. It's always nice to see characters from the other books too. The series tagline is "Come Home to Clayton Falls" and while reading the pages, you actually feel like you're at a place you could easily call home.

Take a visit to Clayton Falls and fall in love with these characters.

Cover comment:
My favorite couple of the series and now my favorite cover as well. LUV IT! The pose, the sideways kiss, the sunlight highlighting them. This is how romantic is done.

  1. It sounds like a sweet story and I enjoy stories that have characters who have made mistakes but learn from them.
