The Midnight Breed series is one of my top favorite PNR series and I wanted to go back to the book which started it all, Kiss Of Midnight. While the series has recently celebrated the release of book number eleven, Edge of Dawn, I revisited Lucan, the Gen One vampire and leader of the Breed warriors and his Breedmate, Gabrielle, as they meet and fall in love. 

When I first met this new group of fearless fighters and their women, I was instantly hooked by the world building (vampires as an alien species), those fantastic warriors, the wonderful women who became their life mates and the ones who wished for their demise. Heart warming romance, exciting action and a changing roster of characters and situations. I was in paranormal book heaven.

Out of all of the hot men, Lucan Thorne has always been one of my favorite Breed men. Strong, resilient, quiet and classic, he is the epitome of an old-fashioned warrior. Like the tapestry depicting his life, he is an actual knight, a legend, and a fearsome leader. Gabrielle is a photographer, a loner of sorts, and has never felt like she fit in any where. I liked her spunk and determination. She's an artist and is surprised when Detective Thorne points out there are no people in any of her showcased photos. That scene alone revealed so much about each character and why they would wind up together. 

Re-reading this beginning story of a lengthy series, it is no wonder I became a lifetime fan of Lara Adrian. Her stories transport me into her fantasy world rooted in our own and the cast of characters I meet are fascinating. I'm never bored in a Midnight Breed novel.
