WinterHaven Sleigh Tour, week #3: our favorite Christmas story

Reader Girls is happy to once again participate in the third and final week of the WinterHaven Sleigh Tour hosted by WinterHaven Books. This week, we are posting our favorite Children's, Winter or Christmas story. To see who else is on the sleigh, go to WinterHaven Sleigh Tour for a list of participating blogs.

This week we are posting our favorite Christmas or winter story. We chose one that is not only a classic but is the epitome of the holiday season. A mean old miserly man is given the opportunity to right the wrongs he made in his life and just may become a better person from it. There is no other story which captures the true meaning of Christmas to us than Ebenezer Scrooge. Our favorite Christmas story is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

London 1843 few know any leisure, and Christmas has all but been forgotten...

...Enter Charles Dickens and his "Ghostly little book," in which he invents the modern concept of Christmas Spirit and offers one of the world s most adapted and imitated stories. We know Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, not only as fictional characters, but also as icons of the true meaning of Christmas in a world still plagued with avarice and cynicism.

This Prestwick House Literary Touchstone Edition includes a glossary and reader s notes to help the reader fully appreciate the beauty and humor of Dickens s work.

As part of The Magic of Christmas, WinterHaven Books is hosting a give-away that will include two book bundles to be shipped to an elementary school or library of the winner's choosing. The winner will be offered a few options and they can choose what 2 bundles and location to ship to within the United States. Good luck and happy holidays!

The winner will be able to choose two from the following choices:
Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins (includes all 3 books)
Shiver Trilogy by Maggie Steifvater (includes all 3 books)
Dairy Queen Trilogy by Catherine Murdock (includes all 3 books)
Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (includes first 3 books)
