ReAwakened Blog Tour: playlist, review, giveaway

We are so excited to be a part of the ReAwakened Blog Tour. I really liked Ada Adams' first book in the series, ReVamped (my review) and was thrilled to revisit Angel Creek, vampire Dawn and her guardian team. We share our playlist, our review and there's a giveaway to enter some wonderful goodies. This tour is presented by Words, Pages, and Books. Welcome.

ReAwakened (Angel Creek #2) by Ada Adams
Paranormal*Paperback & ebook*Published November 27th 2012

Becoming a vampire guardian was Dawn Fairchild’s ticket out of the Scarlet House. Fresh off a successful mission, life in Angel Creek should have been great. But when her sort-of-maybe-boyfriend, Sebastian, disappears on a quest to help a beautiful vampire from his past, Dawn finds herself amidst a web of danger, lies, and deceit.

Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—orsomething—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.

Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.

Our playlist for ReAwakened:

  • Halestorm--Beautiful With You (Dawn getting ready for the party)
  • Ed Sheerhan--This (Dawn's memory of lying on the grass with Sebastian watching the night sky)
  • Cassadee Pope (from The Voice)--Over You (Guardian party after Dawn walks away from Sebastian and his date)
  • Connie Britton and Charles Esten (Nashville cast)--No One Will Ever Love You (scene inside library during party when Sebastian is trying to explain his motives to Dawn & any scene when they seem to be separating again)
  • Three Days Grace--Give Me A Reason (when Dawn goes to Sebastian's house after the party)
  • Imagination Dragons--Radioactive (scene where Dawn and Razor enter the abandoned hospital)
  • Avril Lavigne--Goodbye (Scarlet House Memorial scene)
  • Skylar Grey--Coming Home (Dawn sitting down by tree dedicated to her dad)
  • Sam Palladio & Clare Bowen (Nashville Cast)--If I Didn't Know Better (scene where Dawn walks into Sebastian's room after he's taken a shower. The song lyrics mention drinking and I view that as this couple's blood bond)
  • Alicia Keyes--Girl On Fire (Dawn's memory in the beginning when she's punching the bag and is feeling overwhelmed over everything)
  • Black Lab--Bound (theme song after Dawn thinks she shouldn't near Sebastian because of the blood bond)
  • Kelly Clarkson--Dark Side (Dawn dealing with Aurora)
  • Alex Band--Right Now (any scene Dawn and Sebastian steal to be together)

ReVamped (Angel Creek #1) by Ada Adams
Paperback & ebook, 291 pages*Published February 20th 2012

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

About the Author:

Ada Adams

“Many people sing in the shower. I write scenes in my head and act them out.”

At the age of five, Ada read her first chapter book—Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. Ever since that moment, she developed an intense passion for stories and characters found within the pages of literature.

In her career as an actress and a writer, Ada currently spends most of her days immersed in imaginary worlds. Much like the characters she enjoys playing and writing about, Ada is a martial artist with a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. She is also a big proponent of lifelong learning, and has attained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (it aids in creating characters with unique quirks!) as well as a Master’s of Science in Education.

Ada strives to bring a fresh voice and perspective to fiction. She has been writing creatively for many years, and is an editor of a global fashion/literary magazine called VEUX. ReVamped is her debut novel.

She lives in Toronto, Canada, and enjoys adventurous nature hikes with her adorable puppies Cara and Oreo.

My thoughts:
Ada Adams has quickly shoved her way towards the top of my indie author list of favorite writers. I first took notice of this talented writer with ReVamped but her latest release, ReAwakened, has truly cemented her position on my list. Dawn is back full-force and so is the group of guardians she's been training. This time we get to see more of Sophie, Seth, Hunter and gang (and human hottie Ethan). Each is wholly individual and I enjoyed their interactions and surprising revelations. Of course, my fondness for the series wouldn't be complete without mentioning the dark-haired, swoon-inducing and brooding Sebastian. Listening to Dawn's thoughts and memories of him, while dealing with her increasing feelings for Sebastian, gave me insight into her character and made me like her even more.

The storyline is layered and complex. Born vampires are being taken and the new President of the Vampires isn't doing anything to help. Kudos to Adams for the memorial scene (and Hunter's special 'gift' was a treat!). Bringing in someone close to Sebastian was a delightful surprise (hello Razor!) and the whole mystery of the what exactly are the werewolves and rogue vampires held my attention. Ada Adams has become the Queen of the chapter endings. How she teases the reader and stops me from doing anything but continue reading (even when I need to serve dinner or sleep) on to the next chapter. Her writing simply flows effortlessly and the action scenes, twists, and turns make me an admirer of her writing.

As a longtime vampire fiction fan, I'm always looking for new, unique ways of bringing these supernatural creatures to life on the page. Adams has accomplished this with her Angel Creek series. The Born and Made vamps and their differences with blood are distinguishable enough and the addition of Dawn's unique connection to Aurora are unique. As a main character, Dawn has matured into a strong heroine, thoughtful, intelligent, compassionate and real. Witnessing her handle those dreaded "c" words like "caring" and "couple" only make her more endearing and the fact that she can handle, what, over 15 weapons is a sure plus. The author has a winning series on her hands and I expect Angel Creek to be picked up by an agent or publisher. I loved ReAwakened, highly recommend this series to paranormal fans, and hope to see Dawn's guardian troop featured in their own novels or novellas (more Hunter, please!).
