My thoughts:
How many kids have wished upon a star or comet throughout their childhood? What happens is adults did this and their wished came true? Author Tina L. Hook has taken this concept and created an interesting, promising novel with Enchanted By Starlight. Three women--Grace, Skylar and Alina--make wishes upon a comet but this is a special comet and the wishes they made each come true. Grace was a lonely girl and now she has men falling for her. A poor childhood made Skylar uncomfortable in social situations and now she finds herself with social grace. Alina is all about revenge and dealing with others. Why did each woman choose what they did? The novel reveals their reasons over time, showing us the three as teens up to adulthood. Some handle their gift gratefully but others get heady over the power trip.
While I thought the entire premise of the story about these three women and their comet gifts was very unique, I found myself confused at times. With three different point-of-views, there were numerous names and events to keep track of and some of the transitions lost me so I had to go back over sections to keep proper track of everything. While the female characters were realistic and believable, the men seemed flat. Hook has a way with words and dialogue. Her characters speak and emote so convincingly and her scenery and settings were spot-on. I did enjoy reading this novel but felt my experience would have been even richer if the execution was smoother.
