Review:
Swift is an interesting read about eighteen year old Meredith, fresh out of high school and ready for the next chapter in her life. Since losing her parents and twin sister ten years ago, she's felt alone until she meets Abby at the cemetery while visiting her loved ones. An unexpected friendship begins and when Meredith meets Abby's brother, Blake, she's inexplicably drawn to him. For a young woman accustomed to being the loner, Meredith has two new friends and with new friendships the mystery of who and what she is begins to unwind.
I liked the concept of Swift and enjoyed reading this paranormal YA. The reader is kept in the dark as to what is going on between Meredith, Abby and Blake, and that was okay since it heightened the mystery surrounding Meredith. I would have liked a bit more insight sooner but patience isn't my forte. The characters were well rounded yet, at times, their dialogue sounded stiff (using contractions would have made their speech more believable and not formal unless this was intentional. Occasionally I thought there was too much telling-- using dialogue would have broken up long paragraphs while still informing us what's going on. Meredith suffered from that YA illness of insta-love and having scenes of the two actually falling in love would have been beneficial. I liked the trio of friends and once the story's pace picked up, so did my interest. Swift was loaded with promise and I'm curious to see what Meredith does next.
