Teaser Tuesday (October 4, 2011)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Miz B at ShouldBeReading where you randomly take two lines from your current read (spoiler-free please) and highlight them in a post. We are featuring three YA novels this week.

First up: Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey.

"Glancing over my shoulder, I considered testing whether I could return that way--then decided I wasn't going to start this journey by turning back, I was done with looking back."

Blurb: The highly anticipated sequel to Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side.

It’s one thing to find out you’re a vampire princess. It’s a whole other thing to actually rule. Newly married Jessica Packwood is having a hard enough time feeling regal with her husband, Lucius, at her side. But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. Determined to clear her husband’s name, Jessica launches into a full-scale investigation, but hallucinations and nightmares of betrayal keep getting in her way. Jessica knows that with no blood to drink, Lucius’s time is running out. Can she figure out who the real killer is—and whom she can trust—before it’s too late?

Our second teaser: The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey #4) by Julie Kagawa.

"I almost never dream. Dreams are for mortals, humans whose emotions are so strong, so consuming, they spill over into their subconscious minds. The fey do not usually dream; our sleep is untroubled by thoughts of the past or future, or anything except the now."

Blurb: My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn.

I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her.

My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…

And our third teaser: Melody Burning by Whitley Streiber.

"Moving slowly at first, climbing hand over hand, he made his way back up to fifty, back to his station behind Melody's wall. Through the thin plasterboard, he could hear her breathing softly and steadily.
Sleep, little angel, for I will watch over you."

Blurb: Beresford doesn’t remember much about his past or how he came to live in the chutes and crawl spaces of the posh high-rise that shares his name. But when rock star and teen sensation Melody McGrath moves to an apartment on the fiftieth floor, he knows he has to be near her. Although she doesn’t realize it, Melody is threatened by more dangerous forces than her manipulative stage mom and the pressures of life in the spotlight. The owner of the glamorous building has been hiding a fatal secret within its walls, and Beresford puts all his plans at risk. Will Beresford and Melody be able to escape with their lives (and love) intact? Bestselling author Whitley Strieber makes his young adult debut with this pulsing romantic thriller.

This is what we're reading. What are you reading?
