BOOK DESCRIPTION: (ADULT TITLE-HAS ADULT SITUATIONS/SLIGHT VIOLENCE) Maureen Child's sexy, feisty heroine, Maggie Donovan, a descendant of Otherworldly Faeries, returns to face her greatest challenge-a certain ex-queen who has not been destroyed and wants her crown back. When Maggie's niece is kidnapped by Queen Mab, Maggie must overcome her mistrust of her dashing Fae Warrior lover, Culhane, and unite the Fae Warriors to save the girl and defeat the rebel queen once and for all-or lose everything.

MY REVIEW: Maggie is back, along with the cast of Fae warriors, pixies, a ticked off ex-Queen, and demons hellbent on killing the heroine. It takes a while, but artist Maggie accepts both her role as Queen of the Fey and her rightful home in the palace of Otherworld. Along the way she has to dust off some demons, learn some more defensive moves and how to correctly wield a silver sword. Our heroine is feisty as ever, growing more comfortable in her own skin, and dealing well with Fae policy making. As for her hot boyfriend, Culhane is also back, and just like Maggie he accepts the feelings inside his heart for what it truly is--love.

BEGUILED, like BEDEVILED, is a fun, fast read. I liked the characters Child creates and her Otherworld seems like a nice place. There is more action in this one, but at times the fight scenes don't ring true. My main gripe with the first book is also my problem here. We hear too much repetitive thoughts and complaints from some characters throughout the story. The climatic scene in this second book is slightly better than the sorely lacking one in the first book. Perhaps we'll be treated to a decent action scene in Book 3 since this one, along with its predecessor, ends with a cliff hanging Epilogue.

Overall, despite some bothersome things, the book is great to read on a rainy night.

RECOMMENDED: Yes. FOR ADULT READERS ONLY.

RATING: +++

FOR FANS OF: Lightweight, comedic, fast reads in the ADULT paranormal/fantasy/romantic genres.

SERIES: Yes. This is the second in The Queen of the Otherworld series.
