And will anyone be safe when her true Talent comes out?
PRAISE FOR UNTIL BETH
"I wish I could have read about a protagonist like Beth when I was growing up--a girl who doesn't fit into her society and must learn to use her abilities for good instead of evil. Her struggles will resonate with teen readers, and the hidden agendas of the school and its students will keep readers guessing up to the final page."

Music, mysteries, secrets, boarding school and the paranormal. That's all I needed to read in the synopsis to sell me. I'm so there. Being a fan of the author I was stoked to be on the blog tour for this book. Until Beth by Lisa Amowitz not only offers paranormal YA fans something refreshingly different, she serves up a whole lot more with this first book in her latest series.
Beth. She is not a typical YA heroine. Beth is a talented musician dealing with some heavy life things. Her boyfriend and fellow band member has gone missing and then her brother is badly injured in an accident. When she gets into a cool boarding school for kids like her with serious music chops, she decides to go away. Not feeling like she belongs anyway, Beth could use a new zip code. When she enters the High Steps campus her whole world turns into this hazy, dream-like state where things otherworldly become the norm. The students have these strange Talents and then some. Beth should fit right in, especially after seeing those weird things around her brother.
Not wanting to spoil anything, I have to admit Until Beth surprised me and that's always a great thing. While reading I was reminded of the cool kids from the X-Men series but darker and shrouded in mystery. I love books with music and even though I would have liked even more, Until Beth totally entertained me and kept me invested in this creepy new world this author has created. The Queen of YA mystery and all things supernatural, Amowitz has impressed me again (I was hooked on her gripping Vision series). The cover absolutely rocks (it's killer!) and I can't wait to read what happens next in book two.
About the Author
Lisa Amowitz was born in Queens and raised in the wilds of Long
Island, New York where she climbed trees, thought small creatures lived under
rocks and studied ant hills. And drew. A lot. She is a professor of Graphic
Design at her beloved Bronx Community College where she has been tormenting and
cajoling students for nearly twenty years. She started writing eleven years ago
because she wanted something to illustrate, but somehow, instead ended up
writing YA. Probably because her mind is too dark and twisted for small children.
Lisa is represented by Shannon Hassan of Marsal-Lyon Literary Agency.
