Yes! As a fan of the wee folk I get to revisit the intriguing worlds author Laura Howard created in her first book, The Forgotten Ones, with the release of her second book, Stone of Destiny. For our blog tour stop today we are spotlighting the book and posting our review. Enjoy!

One of my favorite fae series of 2013 was The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard (my review). I became enthralled by the author's vivid realms of human and fae, and especially enjoyed her foray into Gaelic/Scottish mythology of the Tuatha de Danaan and tir na n'Og to create something new and refreshing. Allison's discovery of her fey father, Liam, was so realistically portrayed I became easily hooked. By the end of this twenty year old's adventure, I had also become a fan of the author.

In book two, Stone of Destiny, we are thrust right back into Allison's troubles and dramatic situations. The drama increases having her father living next door and seeing all of the fey who visit him. Things intensify as readers wonder what is going on with Aiofe and her continuing plans to keep her past lover, Liam, away from Allison's mom and his true love. I became enchanted by so much of Stone of Destiny. Allison's off again/on again relationship with Ethan, discoveries about her father' past she meets literally in person while dress shopping with best friend Nicole, dealing with a sadistic joker fey king and learning about the book's title stone.
Again, author Laura Howard submerges her readers in rich details about the fey world while peppering both the human and fantasy worlds with an assortment of interesting and varied characters. There's a pronunciation guide in the beginning of the book to help readers as they meet favorite recurring characters or make new ones. The slower pace at the beginning of the story helped me get back into Allison's world with ease to find out how life is now that Liam is so close. Just like a roller coaster begins its climb, so did this novel. The amount of questions I had from the first book did multiply this time around so I'm expecting an awesome final book.
As for the characters, Allison continues to impress me with her growth and surprised me by standing up to the fey king about Ethan. I loved her independent streak. Simple things like not asking someone for help changing a tire but doing it on her own (even if she's late for work) says so much about the woman she is becoming. I also liked the addition of Samantha and the stone. I can't say more but I am so looking forward to seeing how this trilogy ends with book three. If stories about the fey grab you, the first two books in The Danaan trilogy, The Forgotten Ones and Stone of Destiny, are must haves.

Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child.
