An endless love, for an endless price.
Jack’s immortality is exposed when he prevents a liquor store heist, forcing him to flee to protect his secret—a secret not even he understands. But when he meets Leah Winters—a mirror image of his decades-lost love, Lydia—his very soul is laid bare. He begins to question his sanity. Is she real, and if so, what does that mean for Jack and his secret?
Jack’s not the only mystery man in town. A stranger named Artagan hints at knowledge Jack is desperate to possess. But can he trust Artagan, or does the dark newcomer harbor deadly secrets of his own?
As Jack’s bond with Leah grows, so does the danger to her life. Jack must discover just how much he is willing to risk in order to save the woman he already lost once.

PROLOGUE
I stare at the dull-black barrel of the 9mm pointed at my chest. My gaze shifts to my assailant’s face. His eyes narrow, and his mouth thins for an instant before curving into a smirk.
My grip tightens on the cardboard handle, causing the beer bottles to clink together. There’s no way this idiot is going to cost me my Prize Old Ale. It’s the store’s last six-pack, and who knows when I’ll get more? To the ordinary Joe, this might seem like a foolish thing to be concerned about, especially at a time like this.
But it’s the good stuff, a taste of England, and the only enjoyment I have left.
I raise my free hand and keep my voice soft, as though coaxing a feral animal.
“Let’s calm down. You don’t want to do something you’ll regret.”
The man’s glare slides to the name embroidered above the left pocket of my navy-blue shirt, and he curses. “Jack, huh? Figures. Now you listen to me. I’m in charge here, kid. Remember that!” The weapon jerks to the rhythm of his words, and his eyes, although wild, are committed to finishing what he started. I recognize that look. This man cannot be reasoned with.

Right off the bat I will tell you one thing in my review: I loved My Soul Immortal. Author Jen Printy had me completely with her gripping Prologue. Main character Jack Hammond's voice is so convincing, so real, I was hooked immediately. I couldn't wait to find out exactly what he was. Vampire? Shifter? Something new? As I read, I could feel his frustration, sense his unease and destitution. This was a haunted man. Haunted by memories, of a past and a love so strong I had to see what happened next. So I continued to read until I reached the end. And then I grinned foolishly. Why? Because I wanted more and that is probably the highest compliment a reader can give an author. I felt like Oliver Twist rubbing my Kindle and imploring the author, "Please, Ms. Printy, can I have some more of your Fated Eternals? More Jack, more Leah, and definitely more Artagan."
This isn't the first time Death has let me down. He's stood me up many times-stabbed through the heart and bleeding to death in a pool of my own blood, sitting on the rocky bottom of a lake until every breath left my body-the list goes on. Pain is as reliable as gravity, but Death never keeps his appointments. If he did, I would be enjoying the good life in paradise, with Lydia.
What more can I say about Jack? Good looking, complex, a romantic, snarky, smart, rides a Triumph Bonneville. His favorite beer is Prize Old Ale. When he needs to move, he uses a dart and a handy dandy map to find his next locale. Oh, and he can't die. He's tried but Death never comes. He's immortal and a loner, dealing with the death of his beloved Lydia over a hundred years ago. He still looks like a college student and gets carded at stores and bars. When he relocates to Portland, Maine, he runs into a pretty woman, literally. And then the story gets even more interesting.
Every woman still longs for her very own Mr. Darcy. He doesn't exist. He's fictional. I'll never understand the attraction, but maybe that's because I've known his type in the flesh. He's never as appealing in person as he is on paper.Yes, Jack has a cynical outlook on love, what with his past record in romance and broken heart over his loss. But he's still a total charmer, warts and all. His stodginess and inexperience with modern women makes him incredibly appealing. He's an old soul with old sensibilities stuck in a twenty year old man's body. When he encounters the scarred man in a bar, the story takes an even more intriguing twist. I became a huge fan of this author only a couple of chapters in. I enjoyed the tale and mystery she weaved on the pages. Who is this mystery man? Readers do find out and all I will say is Artagan is a bad ass. He needs his own book NOW. He practically steals every scene he's in (and since Jack is an awesome narrator, this is not an easy feat).
I peer at her. That same lightning from long ago surges again. Pure pleasure. Throughout that evening, I felt myself waking up from a long hibernation. Over time, I've shut away much of who I am. I don't want this new feeling to end. Not ever.Yes, My Soul Immortal is also a love story with paranormal elements that touch upon reincarnation. I thoroughly enjoyed how the author took the theme of lost love and put her own unique spin on it with relatives of Death, 'soul immortals' and a council featuring mythological giants like Thanatos. Each character in this amazing cast held their own, even though I had my favorites (besides Jack and Artagan), I really liked Leah and her brother, Grady, bookstore owner Ed and his lady love, and some of the council members intrigued me as well. Printy's writing held me glued to the page and I loved her descriptions (especially of England). I could touch the moss on rocks and smell the chill in the air.
"My heart is and always will be yours," I say, holding out the ring.Whoa, visions of Edward Ferris proposing to Eleanor from the movie version of Sense and Sensibility flashed through my mind during this highlighted romantic scene. Jack may have found his happy ending with Leah Winters but in the world of immortals and soul immortals, there's always some mystery and twist lurking, destined to keep readers invested. I know I am hooked on the Fated Eternals series and eagerly await the next title. Fans of urban fantasy, paranormal, romance, and good ole engrossing storytelling should really check out Jen Printy's new series. Take the advice of this instant fan girl. I recommend it!

LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!
Cover comment:
This cover is okay. Jack does wear a leather jacket and I assume the building is where Lydia lived. I think it needs something else to break up the murkiness, but I am grateful the designer didn't stick a bare chested model on this cover with half his face cut off. That is so overdone in this genre today.
