Blog tour: Title: Echoes in the Glass by Cheri Lasota

On this last Saturday before Christmas, we are thrilled to be bringing the Echoes in the Glass blog tour to you today. Look at that cover. Isn't it pretty? The lighthouse beacon shining on the guy and girl as their fingers are about to touch. The image is full of mystery too with its effective use of color and black-and-white. We have an author interview and there is a giveaway. To see other stops on the tour for reviews, guest posts, and excerpts click here or the tour button above.

When all their secrets are laid bare, will the truth rip them apart or forever silence the echoes of the past?

Seventeen-year-old Finnian Bell has been on the run for years, but he finally has a chance to rebuild his life while restoring an abandoned lighthouse on the Oregon Coast.

McKenna Lucas, the lightkeeper’s daughter, is still reeling from the pain of an event that has shattered her innocence. Fear and bitterness have turned her heart from Finnian, but he is determined not to let her go.

The lighthouse harbors dark secrets of its own…

When Finnian and McKenna uncover the story of two teens hidden in the tower back in 1934, they discover a shocking connection that bridges time and death.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Back when I was eight or so, I tried my hand at my first story. I was hooked from then on. Though at that point, I had no idea what I was doing. It wouldn’t be until decades later when I discovered the madness and joy of National Novel Writing Month that I finally figured out my inner editor was squelching my writing process. NaNoWriMo taught me to kill the editor, which finally set me free.

Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?
Yeah, it’s called kidnapping to movie scores. I kid you not. I usually force my poor writer peeps out to the coffee shop with me, so they can keep me off Facebook. Yeah, I’m an addict, okay? And I can’t write without a movie score playing on my iPod. I cannot write at home. Three things distract me incessantly there: TV, Xbox, and laundry, and not necessarily in that order.

Where do you get your ideas or inspiration for your characters?
This is a difficult question for me. Sometimes they just pop in my head and I don’t know how or why. Sometimes I build out a personality based on my theme, a snippet of dialogue, a dream, or another fictional or film character. Regardless, it takes me a LONG time to build my characters, and usually they are pulling double or triple duty, as is the case with my debut novel, Artemis Rising, in which almost every major character plays three parts.

What books have most influenced your life?
Oh, this is a short list, but the books are some of the best ever written in my opinion:
A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens
Of Honest Fame, M.M. Bennetts
The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay
Tess of the D’urbervilles, Thomas Hardy

What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I have a large number of hobbies I’ve dabbled in over the years—oil painting, pastels, playing piano, singing, composing—but these days I’m focused mostly on downhill skiing / racing. I’m a bit of a speed junkie. Yeah, it’s a problem. I’m dealing.

Any future writing news you would like to share?
I’m going to tackle my most ambitious project to date next: a scifi trilogy set mostly in space with the most unusual main character I’ve ever conceived.
