Addicted for Now (Addicted #2) by Krista Ritchie & Becca Ritchie
New Adult contemporary romance
Paperback/eBook, 488 pages
Published November 30th 2013 (first published November 29th 2013)

He's addicted to booze. She's addicted to sex...staying sober is only half the battle.

No. More. Sex.

Those are the three words Lily Calloway fears the most. But Loren Hale is determined to be with Lily without enabling her dangerous compulsions. With their new living situation—sleeping in the same bed, for real, together—Lily has new battles. Like not jumping Lo’s bones every night. Not being consumed by sex and his body.

Loren plans to stay sober, to right all of his wrongs. So when someone threatens to expose Lily’s secret to her family and the public, he promises that he’ll do anything to protect her. But with old enemies surfacing, Lo has more at stake than his sobriety.

They will torment Lily until Lo breaks.

And his worst fear isn’t relapsing. He hears the end. He sees it. The one thing that could change everything. Just three words.

No. More. Us.

I have an admission to make: I am addicted. To Krista Ritchie and Becca Ritchie's Addicted series. I loved the first book, Addicted To You (my review), and just read Ricochet (book 1.5) and Addicted For Now (Book 2) back-to-back. As a book junkie, I need to advise any reader looking at this series to begin with book one and keep on going. You won't be sorry. You will probably wind up like me-addicted.

Ricochet picks up right after the heartbreaking scene when Lo leaves Lily to enter rehab and is totally from Lily's point-of-view. Those 90 days of waiting for her soulmate to return to her are gut-wrenching. Passing the time away isn't easy, but Lily is able to start treatment of her own with a therapist thanks to her older sister Rose and her boyfriend, Connor's help. It's great to see more of Rose here, both as a guardian to little sis and as a woman dealing with her feelings and relationship with Connor. I'm glad this couple will get their own book in the series.

Lil begins to grow and see that her addiction stems from something in her childhood. She doesn't figure it out quickly and it's this journey to truth which is what makes the reader understand and love her more. Ryke helps out despite his brash attitude and an unlikely ally steps forward during a Fizzle dinner to help Lily. The few scenes with Lo chipped away pieces of my heart. These two have a long road ahead to sobriety and a healthy relationship. To get there they have to face their problems and weaknesses. Lo matures and changes during the program but still needs his rock, Lily. The pacing did slow down in spots and a few scenes seemed to go on too long. Otherwise,
the book kept me glued to each and every word.

In Addicted For Now, readers are privy to both Lily and Lo's point-of-views. Hearing from Lo only solidifies my love for both the character and the series. At a heft 488 pages, this is not a fast read. Any story worth reading about recovery shouldn't be. Lily and Lo have to face each other now that's he has returned and this imposes an entirely new set of hurdles. Living with each other, sleeping in the same bed, Lo knows he can't give in and enable Lily anymore. He must do what he's supposed to do and has done all his life--protect her. When he starts receiving threatening text messages, he slips into protective mode, but this may impede his own recovery as he tries to figure out who wants to release Lily's secret to the press. Lo knows he wasn't there one time before to help her when she needed him, this time will be different. I had to applaud his grim determination and ferocity of character in this book.

The Ritchie sisters sure have their fingertips on the pulse of today. Designer clothes, Ivy League schools, addiction, the life of the rich and famous, the Addicted series touches upon the frivolity and excess of the jetset world and exposes their dirty secrets and nasty habits. Not afraid to touch upon anything, the Addicted series is so damn good because of its realistic portrayal of a young college-aged couple in crisis and their subsequent recovery. The voices of Lil and Lo are what set this series apart from other similar themed stories. This couple are unique individuals and their qualities shine through. Lil and Lo stand-out and have become my ultimate couple of 2013. Years of freedom to do whatever have led to their various breakdowns and vices. Yet, Lily and Lo surface like a phoenix to claim what is theirs: each other, clean, sober, healthy. With family and friends, they see what they need is right before their eyes. Gritty, realistic, poignant, with a ton of heart, I didn't want to have to say goodbye to Addicted For Now. Adored it!

Published August 22nd 2013 by K.B. Ritchie (first published June 13th 2013)

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze…the only way out is rock bottom.

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.
