Virginia Nelson spends her days chasing three very active kids around. When she is not doing this, or plotting taking over the world, she likes to write, play in the mud, drive far too fast and scream at inanimate objects. She can often be found listening to music that is far too loud and typing her next fantastic tale of blood, sex and random acts of ineptitude. Romance, in Ms. Nelson’s opinion, is not about riding off into the sunset on the back of a horse with the knight in shining armor— it is about riding the dragon. If the knight can keep up… well, that is love.

Liz hasn't had an easy life. She left her small town after high school to pursue her dreams and went to Las Vegas. There she met and fell for Vernen, an Elvis impersonator. They married and she got pregnant but Verne wasn't the man for her so she went home, broken. Small towns can be brutal with the gossip and her own family was hard on her. But Liz was determined to raise her baby daughter and she does with the help of the first boy she danced with in high school, Jeremy. They shared a kiss that night and she hasn't forgotten, neither has he.

Rumor Has It is a novella packing a powder keg of a relationship which has been kept quiet for way too long. For thirteen years Liz and Jeremy have been keeping their love for each other to themselves, but when Verne returns to stay with Liz for a couple of weeks, Jeremy sees his chances with the woman he loves and the family they have created over time threatened. The wise words of Liz's teen daughter help Jeremy get moving and the scene where he finally kisses Liz was very realistic conveying that awkwardness between two people who are afraid to admit their true feelings for fear of being hurt.

The story doesn't end with a kiss. This fast paced erotic romance shows us how both characters have to fight themselves until they reach the logical conclusion: they need each other. When the gossip about Liz getting back together with Verne runs rampant, Liz's daughter implores Jeremy to do something. Sexy and touching, Rumor Has It may be short in length but accomplishes bringing a couple destined to be together in a sexy, realistic and satisfying manner.

Rating: 3

Cover comment: I'm okay with the cover until I see the bottom section with the Elvis wannabe and the Vegas sign. Not crazy about that section.
