March Author of the Month: L.M. Pruitt

Since we messed up last month and missed our posting schedule, we've decided to continue making L.M. Pruitt Our Author of the Month.

L.M. Pruitt has been reading since before she can remember, and writing nearly as long. She fell in love with New Orleans after spending one week there, and visits the city as often as her schedule permits--which isn't nearly often enough. She is the author of New Moon Rising, Shades of Gray, the first novel in the Jude Magdalyn series, Hole in the Wall, a Jude Magdalyn short, and Taken: A Frankie Post Novel. She is currently at work on Harvest Moon Rising, the next book in the Cari Gravier series. She makes her home in Florida with two cats--one smart, one an idiot--and a puppy with a tendency to chew everything. 

Will There Be Another Jude?

Lately I’ve had a lot of readers asking if I’ll be writing any more Jude novels. This is a valid question since the last release, Shades of Blood, was nearly six months ago. I always feel bad when I tell people the truth.

It’s going to be a little while. Like a year.

Why the long wait? Well. Someone with a much louder voice and a much MUCH bigger story came along.

Don’t get me wrong—Jude is still making herself known, usually in little fits and bursts of scenes and dialogue. There’s a good chance by the time I sit down to actually write the fourth book in the series, tentatively titled Shades of Loss, that I’ll have at least half of it already written. I’ll just need to piece the various parts together like Dr. Frankenstein. Which would be fun and interesting in and of itself since I usually write very linearly.

But I digress.

Jude’s story isn’t finished. First, there’s the very real matter of the bumps—otherwise known as Gillian and Anne. They’ve still got a few months to bake but they’re going to start asserting themselves (even more than they already do) here very soon.

Second, there’s the very real and immediate threat of Hart, having made his way up from the bottom of the Mississippi. After four months in a muddy, watery grave, he’s not going to be playing with anything close to a full deck. Add in his hatred of his brother, Jude, the Covenant in general, and you’ve got the setup for a whole lotta drama. Oh—and don’t forget his daughter is now in the picture. One more thing to add to the mix.

Finally, there’s the favor that Jude owes St. Germaine. It’s going to be a doozy, with the potential to change multiple relationships and the fates of multiple people. But a promise is a promise. And St. Germaine is not the kind of man you want to break your word to. And no—I’m not telling you what he’s going to ask for—you’ll just have to suffer for a little bit.

In conclusion, I’ll repeat what I said earlier. Jude isn’t going anywhere. She still has plenty of stories left to tell. I just have to find the time to write them.
