What is the first word you think of when you hear February? Love! The second month of the year boasts Valentine's Day, a day for all things love-related. So how can we celebrate? By participating in a giveaway hop! For the Love of Swoon Blog Hop has begun. This hop is co-hosted by The Book Hookup and Kathy from I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and runs from now until midnight on February 20th. 

Reader Girls is giving away a copy of of Broken by A.E. Rought (ARC). I've just finished reading this paranormal romance and enjoyed the love story between Emma and Alex. You would think from the summary, this wasn't a romantic read. It is. Melancholy, inspiring, touching, this novel has loads of gorgeous imagery and is written with so much feeling. I could easily imagine the mysterious Alex with his drawn up hoodie smiling over at Emma in the lunch room. When they touch, it's electric. He fights for her and tells her his heart beats for her. Can you get more romantic than THAT?

When she encounters newcomer Alex Franks, only son of a renowned widowed surgeon, she's intrigued despite herself. He's an enigma, melting into shadows, preferring to keep to himself. But he is as drawn to her as she is to him. He is strangely... familiar. From the way he knows how to open her locker when it sticks, to the nickname she shared only with Daniel, even his hazel eyes with brown flecks are just like Daniel's. 

The closer they become, though, the more something inside her screams there's something very wrong with Alex Franks. And when Emma stumbles across a grotesque and terrifying menagerie of mangled but living animals within the walls of the Franks' estate, creatures she surely knows must have died from their injuries, she knows.
