Blurb: When her mother is taken from her in a terrible accident, Alexis finds herself facing some previously unknown truths. Her best friend, Keats, is her only confidante when she is faced with an apparent stalker who claims that Alexis’ entire life is built around a lie. Alexis is suddenly thrown into a whirlwind world of danger and secret agendas, of demigods and deities.
When a brutal, self-righteous god decides that Alexis is his best hope for retrieving an ancient artifact, she finds herself on the self-discovery journey of a lifetime - tracking a killer and a kidnapper - and facing conniving and dangerous foes along the way.
She will have to come to grips with who she truly is and just what she might be capable of if she is to survive long enough to save the one person in the world for whom she cares most.
Ancient Greek mythology comes to life in this unique coming-of-age tale that spans the globe and the heart of a girl who only wants to be normal. But, just what is normal in a world like this?

Review: Despite a slow start, I have to admit I was totally intrigued by Alexis's voice. The eighteen year old loses her mom in a car accident and has her best bud, Keats (love that name) as her support system. A mysterious guy begins to stalk her and luckily, Keats begins to figure out what's suddenly going on in Alexis' life. Almost midway through, the story picked up and kept me interested through to the end.
I like mythology and thought the way C.L. Stengall incorporated it into his story was fascinating. Alexis learns she is not who she originally thought and as she discovers her powers they are tested when Keats disappears. Finding out she has other siblings and that she has to travel to meet them was a neat spin. There was plenty of action, well crafted characters, intriguing story lines and plenty of conflict to make me a fan of the Progeny. I'm looking forward to reading more in this trilogy.
Rating: 3.5
Cover comment: Kind of boring for me and way too macabre. Where's Keats?
