Off Limits Book Tour: Excerpt + Giveaways

Off Limits
By Renee Pace
Genre: Contemporary YA

Blurb: Lindsay looks and acts like the perfect fifteen year-old, but she’s hiding a dirty little secret that no amount of fashionista coverings can make better. Telling her mother her step-father is molesting her is not an option. Trying to kill herself again haunts her more than the scars on her wrists, and pretending to be perfect at school might very well drive her over the edge.

Megan knows all about lying. It's been part of her life ever since she realized the only way to escape her poverty-stricken neighborhood was to work hard, keep her mouth shut and wear a mask no one can penetrate. All that changes when Lindsay befriends her.

Can two girls who have little in common discover the value of a real friendship or will the secrets they dare not speak destroy them both?

Off Leash (Nitty Gritty #1)
Blurb: When life knocks you flat on your back, and you know you've had enough, try telling that to a dog demanding his walk.

Jay Walker is a fake. He acts full when starved and happy when sad. How else is a guy who has a deadbeat for a mother and a sister battling cancer supposed to feel? And isn’t walking a pet just a chore? Too bad the dog doesn’t know that. The dog lives in the now, embraces life to the fullest and gives his whole heart when offering love.

Off Leash is unique because it showcases issues of poverty that transcend countries, age and color. Alternatively told between the POV of both Jay and the dog, Ollie, it shows the reader how a boy who wants a job to make some quick cash so he can buy food for his cancer-stricken sister struggles with trying to do the right thing in a world that has treated him wrong since birth.

Off Leash has alternative endings.

Guest Post: What’s in my library?
By Renee Pace, author of YA nitty gritty stories Off Leash & Off Limits

Well, thanks for asking. If you were to sit on my sofa in the living room you would have a lovely view of all my books I will never ever give away. These books have meaning at pivotal stages in my life. Take for instance my Lord Byron poetry book. In grade 9 my English teacher introduced me to poetry and I fell in love with Lord Byron’s Prisoner of Chillion. I even had the chance to tour the castle in Europe where Lord Byron wrote this poem. It was such a wonderful experience.

I also have my favorite books my aunt gave to me during my elementary years: James and Giant Peach, a poetry book called Birds, Beasts and Flowers as performed by Princess Grace of Monaco, who I admired greatly as a young girl, and a book on genetics (I so loved that book). Late when I started living on my own, I found an amazing used bookstore which had books in shelves that seemed to me to reach the roof. There I discovered The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, which opened my eyes to a different culture and their history, V.S. Naipaul’s An Area of Darkness, Kamala Markandaya’s Nectar in a Sieve and well, the list goes on and on. While living in TO and getting ready to move back to Halifax and waiting for my hubby to finish his Masters we had one chair left. On that chair I read A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth and a Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.

Today next to all those books are my favorite romance authors like Julianne MacLean, Deborah Hale, Donna Alward, Kathryn Fox’s hot sexy reads and JR Ward’s books. On the shelf above them are my YA books like Jill MacLean’s The Nine Lives of Travis Keating, which I totally related to as I grew up in a small fishing community, Simone Elkeles’ Return to Paradise (I actually have all of Simone’s books), Cate Tiernan’s Darkness Falls, and Josephine Angelini’s Starcrossed.

What does this tell you about me? I like to read a lot. I’m an eclectic reader. I juggle usually two books at once when reading and a book comes with me everywhere.

I can’t imagine a world without books. To me that would be prison.
