Blurb: Staid professor Lissy McIntyre believes that choosing a mate should be based on common sense, not runaway passion. And she would certainly never pick a rolling stone like Nick Richards for long-term love. But a red-hot, tropical romance? Oh, yeah. He’s got a body just made for sinning and his sizzling kisses leave her senseless.
When Nick blows into town, he’s stunned to discover that his no-nonsense new neighbor and co-worker is the same sultry creature he seduced for one night of forbidden island pleasure. He’s unaccustomed to staying in one place for long, but he just can’t seem to keep his hands off the multi-faceted woman. Will Nick break loyal Lissy’s heart or will she be the one woman he simply can’t walk away from?

An interview with Annie Seaton
We're stuck together in a stopped elevator. Chatting, you tell me you're an author. How would you describe A Holiday Affair to me?
Holiday Affair is a sexy romance set in the wonderful South Pacific. Ocean breezes, sapphire waters provide the backdrop for a couple falling in love, albeit reluctantly! A one night fling –no strings attached. Matters get complicated when he turns out to be her new boss and her neighbor!
What is the appeal of writing romance to you?
I am a true romantic at heart. I love happy endings, big happy families and romance that flourishes in gorgeous settings. I love describing a setting so vividly so that the reader can see , hear and smell the exotic locations I place my characters in. I love hearing from readers who say that reading my romantic stories has lifted them and placed them in that setting for a short time.
How do you keep the romance 'fresh' in your stories?
I believe the key to ‘freshness’ is having interesting characters. Each of us react differently to different challenges and life circumstances. In a romance, I love being able to create dilemmas for my characters which develop the sexual tension between the two main characters. I also have a habit of throwing in a third character, as a main secondary character to ramp up the tension even more!
I’ve heard quite a few writers say they like to people watch and listen. Are you a people watcher?
Absolutely... I carry a little notebook everywhere and often can be found jotting down phrases, descriptions or just ideas that pop into my head at the strangest time. I love going to the supermarket.. there is always such an interesting mix of people to observe there!
How do you go about getting inspiration for your characters? Can you tell us about your inspiration for Lissy and Nick?
Most winters, we go sailing in the Whitsunday Islands and wander along the beaches at the islands
Of course, romance is always in the air and the characters of Nick and Lissy were inspired as I watched tanned backpackers stroll hand in hand along the beach. I started to wonder about romances which begin in exotic locations and how that relationship would survive once transplanted into a mundane work environment. My background of working in an academic environment and my study of Pacific history in my undergraduate history studies was the inspiration for Lissy’s role in the history faculty in the University.
Are you working on any other projects you care to share with us?
Absolutely... I am currently writing the story of Tom, Nick’s brother in Holiday Affair. Tom is currently in Italy (on another exotic island.. this time off the coast of Sicily) and falling in love with a Scottish sex therapist! I am thoroughly enjoying it because Brianna has a wicked sense of humour and is really bringing out the fun in Tom! Look out for Italian Affair.

Hi Annie! How crazy, having your first two books pubbed on the same day! Bet there were huge celebrations. I'm really looking forward to this story. Entangled are putting out first class reads.

Hi Annie, before our marriage, my husband lived in Kashmir, which was, at that time, one of the most romantic places in the world with it's beautiful lake and shikara boats. To tell you the truth, I still get goosebumps when I remember my visits there, before we got married eighteen years ago.
ReplyDeleteAll the best with Holiday Affair. I hope it's a great success for you.
Thanks Robyn and Maria... it has been an exhilarating couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Robyn.. Entangled reads are fabulous.
My first thought was hot sexy beaches like St Thomas but I think the ski slopes are better. Snuggling by a fire or in a hot tub after skiing - yeah all kinds of fun there.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your book - looks good.

ReplyDeleteFor me definitely the beaches in St Thomas ! The book sounds really good congrats !
Definitely the beach on an island.

Good luck everybody! It has been fun reading your locations. I am a beach girl!
ReplyDeleteStrange how one person can saturate a room with vitality, with excitement. Then there are others, and this dame was one of them, who can drain off energy and joy, can suck pleasure dry and get no sustenance from it. Such people spread a grayness in the air about them.
