Waiting on Wednesday
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at her blog, Breaking the Spine. It's easy to participate in this meme--all you need to do is post the title(s) you're frothing at the mouth to read.
YA PICK:
All dramatics aside, this is one book we're looking forward to. Our mom has met Kimberly at a workshop and SCBWI conferences and she's awesome(!!!) so we're soooo excited to see her debut novel cover revealed. Isn't that a great cover? The movement of her hair reminds of the soaring of the paper origami birds, and even the background is cool. The blurb makes me want to pick this up now. Without further frothing, our YA pick is Touching the Surface by Kimberly Sabatini.
Blurb: Life altering mistakes are meant to alter lives…
When Elliot dies for the third time, she knows this is her last shot. There are no fourth-timers in this afterlife, so one more chance is all she has to get things right. But before she can move on to her next life, Elliot will be forced to face her past and delve into the painful memories she’d rather keep buried. Memories of people she’s hurt, people she’s betrayed…and people she’s killed.
As she pieces together the mistakes of her past, Elliot must earn the forgiveness of her best friend and reveal the truth about herself to the two boys she loves…even if it means losing them both forever. (Goodreads)
Touching the Surface (hardcover, Simon Pulse) has an expected publication date of September 4, 2012. And check out Kimberly's blog to read all about her publishing adventures and being a member of 2012 Apocalypsies.
ADULT PICK:
Our adult choice is Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian. Midnight Breed. Sterling. Dragos. Do I have to say more? Breed warrior may be suffering from a blood addiction, but so am I when it comes to this series. One of my top favorite paranormal series and Adrian keeps the stories coming.
The climactic novel in Lara Adrian’s New York Timesbestselling Midnight Breed series—and her hardcover debut—Darker After Midnight invites readers to enter a thrillingly sensual world where danger meets desire. (Goodreads)
Blurb: In the dark of night, a blood war escalates within the hidden world of the Breed. After existing in secret for many long centuries, maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the entire vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order—a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike—to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire at the center of the conflict, before his push for domination can explode into catastrophe.
At the center of the Order’s quest is Sterling Chase, once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With addiction beckoning him toward eternal darkness, Chase’s path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach—until he finds himself drawn to a beautiful young woman who may be something much more than she seems . . .
