Highland Honor Book Tour + Giveaway

Book blurb: Willfully stubborn, innocently courageous, Callie Whitcomb braves a journey through the treacherous highlands to the MacPherson castle. Callie flees from an unwanted marriage as well as her ruthless half brother. Naively she believes Colin MacPherson, the head of the clan, is loyal to her father and will give her sanctuary, protecting her from the vile plans that have been made for her.

As hard and as unyielding as the winter storms that sweep through the countryside, Colin is irresistibly drawn to the impetuous beauty who has magically appeared on his doorsteps. Despite his vows of revenge against her father, she stirs his passion as well as his sense of justice...but to love her would violate all his vows of revenge.

A Q&A with Christine Young

What makes a story about Highlanders classic and sexy and the romances so timeless? Can you tell us about your series?

Scottish Highlanders are larger than life. Have you ever attended the highland games? The men are on the fields in kilts and they are tossing cabers as if they are toothpicks--WOW. For the more lithe, they also run a mile in a kilt; women enter this completion also.

The history of Scotland helps makes these stories classics. The people of this wild untamed land have been persecuted throughout English history. They have fought the best army in the world throughout and won few victories but the few they won are legends. They have battled on religious grounds as well. As part of England the people were treated much the same as the people in the American colonies. We as romance readers and writers love to defend the underdog and Scotland with its warrior highlanders were always the underdog.

What woman couldn't fall in love with a man who wears a kilt?

My Highland series begins with Highland Honor and introduces the MacPherson clan. Colin MacPherson or Hawke is as strong, dangerous and wild as the Scottish highlands. The woman he comes to cherish more than life is Callie Whitcomb, a headstrong, willful and beautiful English lady.

The second book in the series is Highland Magic. Ian MacPherson, the younger brother to Hawke and Keely meet when the young healer saves Ian's life. Unbeknownst to Keely, Ian has been sent to bring her to trial for witchcraft. As his brother, Ian puts loyalty and duty above everything. Ian finds that his need to protect the woman who has saved his life eclipses his duty to his king and country. He is a man torn between honor and duty to his country and the woman he loves.

The third book in the series is Highland Song. Lanie MacPherson is the youngest of the siblings. With her white-gold hair, Lainie is as untamed as the Scottish Highlands. She vows to avenge her brutal rape by a pompous English soldier. In her mission to seek revenge she never dreams she will end up spying for the Scottish people or that she will steal forged documents from Aaron Slade. He vows to hunt Lainie down and bring her to justice, never dreaming she will tame his jaded soul.

An excerpt from Highland Honor:

Scotland November 1512:

A heavy frost sat on the frozen earth, and a full moon shone clearly between the heavy clouds dotting the sky. Lady Callie Whitcomb looked over her shoulder as she raced through the deepening gloom toward the lighted tavern ahead. Every shadow, every mournful sigh of the wind sweeping through the trees, every chilling animal sound filled her with terror. Fear for her life drove her to put all thoughts of danger aside. He would follow her, find her, and drag her home.

Home.

"Don't think of that now," she reminded herself fiercely, even while tears stung in the back of her throat and fear made her limbs tremble. "Don't ye dare think of home. It no longer exists." Nothing and no one could coax her back or make her believe there was naught but terror in the home where she'd been born.

"I will never marry Lord Huntington. Never!" she whispered fiercely, the chill night air solemnly echoing her words.

Her stepbrother, Archibald Covington III, made sure she could never return.

"There ye be, lass! I've been waiting for ye."

The voice rose from nowhere and surprised her. Her heart froze, lurched, then began an erratic beat, while raw nerves snapped, sending a myriad of sensations racing down her spine.

"Archibald--" she whispered, panic sweeping through her. "He's found me." All she could hear was the pounding of her own blood in her ears.

  1. I was just wondering about writing this series whether they were written one after the other, or if the writing overlapped?
