Author Stop: Cynthia Tefft and Between

ReaderGirls welcomes independent YA author Cyndi Tefft to our blog today. Cyndi Tefft has written a paranormal YA novel, Between, with an emotional love story at its center. Between has been placing many readers under its spell based on the amount of positive reviews we've read. We welcome Cyndi Tefft.

 Book Blurb:
It just figures that the love of Lindsey Water's life isn't alive at all, but the grim reaper, complete with a dimpled smile and Scottish accent.

After transporting souls to heaven for the last 300 years, Aiden MacRae has all but given up on finding the one whose love will redeem him and allow him entry through the pearly gates.

Torn between her growing attraction to Aiden and heaven's siren song, Lindsey must learn the hard way whether love really can transcend all boundaries.

Guest Post: Cyndi's Teenage Room (circa late 80s)
My room—my sanctuary away from three obnoxious older brothers—can tell you a lot about me: what I love, what my dreams are, what my life is like. Only my bestest friends are allowed in here. And you count!

The walls
Okay, so the first thing you probably noticed was that I LOVE George Michael. The posters covering every single square inch of wall space was a dead giveaway, right? Whatever, he's hot! I mean, just look at him in that white speedo from the Club Tropicana video. No one should have a right to be that incredibly fine. I told Mom he has a great body and she said, "He has a nice physique. You haven't seen his whole body, so you can't say that." No, I haven't seen it, but I certainly have dreamed about it! Hahaha (don't tell her I said that).

The stereo
Wanna listen to a record? I have the entire collection of Wham! albums. I even got a new diamond tip on the record player so it hardly ever skips. No? Well, hey, we can listen to the Go-Go's if you want. Mom is the singer in a rock band called Movin' On and they let me sing once during practice. It was AWESOME! I got to use the mic and everything, while the band played. I sang Vacation by the Go-Go's and I didn't screw up the words at all. I totally rocked! I'm already starting to plan my next song for when I get to do it again. Maybe a Madonna song...

My sax
I play second chair saxophone in school . I've been playing forever—since I was in sixth grade—but I'm never going to make it to first chair. I don't mind, though, cuz I've been totally crushing on the first chair guy (yeah, that's his pic next to my bed) since we were in seventh grade Algebra together. I passed him a note once that said "Do you like me?" and had boxes for Yes and No. He passed it back and I swear, my heart was beating like the timpani drum in band class. He'd drawn a new box: "As a friend." Ouch. That's okay. I'm an acquired taste. I'm sure he'll come around eventually. Oh, and by the way, if you EVER tell him I told you that story, I will personally dismember you and feed the pieces to the birds. Deal?

Besides, I'll always have George. We were made to be together (I've already named our kids).

My typewriter
I saved up my allowance FOREVER so I could buy it. Isn't it beautiful? It has these cool wheels that you can trade out for different lettering (the italics wheel is my total favorite). I sit at my desk and write poems about George and First Chair Guy, about how I'm RIGHT HERE and no one even notices me half the time. I've read some of my stuff to Mom and she says I'm really good. She's always been my biggest fan no matter what I do: writing, drama, singing, whatever. She says I can do anything I set my mind to and sometimes I think I really can. Maybe I'll write a book some day. Yeah, a book about a girl like me who meets a totally hunky guy and they fall madly in love. That would be AWESOME!
Fast Forward to 2011
George Michael is gay.
Madonna is still singing.
First Chair Guy plays saxophone professionally.
I'm happily married with two kids (different names than I picked out for George!).
My mom is still my biggest fan. I finally wrote that love story.

About the author:
Cyndi Tefft lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest where the weather is overcast and rainy, much like the Highlands of Scotland. So she was right at home when she got the chance to visit Eilean Donan Castle in May 2010.

A self-proclaimed Scot freak, she loved every bit about the trip to Scotland: the people, the kilts, the accents, the fish & chips, the haggis...well okay, not the haggis.
