Summary: Love is born between strangers, yet built upon a bond soul deep―one Alpha’s vow to protect his mate from looming danger, all the while, mending her soul and stirring her wolfish desires.

A vicious Werewolf attack in Plymouth, Minnesota leaves a young woman violated, bitten and now, transformed into a Werewolf. But Rynn Murphy doesn’t have to face this transformation alone—she has her mate by her side. And the charming Briggs is eager to ease her into this new life and mend her battered soul.

With only weeks to adjust to her new fur, Rynn begins to understand what it truly means to be mated to the Beta, secondhand man to Valor, Patriarch of Wolves. Their leadership over the Alphas brings them in contact with the Montana Alpha, Hendrix. He is in a desperate state to find his abducted daughter. Valor and Briggs agree to give aid in her rescue leaving Rynn to tag along.

But this mission is not without danger. And soon, they discover the ones who have taken this young wolf do not want her found and will stop at nothing to keep her hidden. Or so it may seem, as bodies begin to drop around them, the murderous attempts start to appear more as a hit than a smoke screen—leaving only one question, who is the intended target…

My review: After reading a glowing review by The Bookish Snob, I knew this was a book I had to read. I'm glad to say this was my first Stacey Kennedy book and it will definitely not be my last. Kennedy blended pain, fear, hope, with affection, love, romance, action and mystery and created one of my favorite stories of the year. Rynn is a new werewolf but she has already met her mate, Briggs, a powerfully charming and unselfish Were who will teach her whatever she needs to live a full life. Briggs happens to the Beta in his pack, the second in command to the Alpha, Valor, which instantly makes Rynn the third in charge. But her acceptance into the pack is not a smooth, happy one. Many Weres resent her, primarily because she is not a true wolf but a rare changed human, but Rynn is utterly determined to keep her place. When their pack is asked to help locate the missing daughter of another pack's Alpha, Rynn turns out to be a valuable asset to her group. As the body count increases during their search, it becomes apparent Rynn's role may get her killed as well.

There were so many likable characters in An Everlasting Bite, the first title in The Blue Bloods series (and I understand some characters were introduced in The Magical Swords series) and my favorites were Rynn, Briggs and Valor. Rynn had such a compelling blend of vulnerability, innocence and strength of purpose. Watching her change from a scared, timid girl in the beginning to a more secure and assertive young woman still finding her way in the Were world gave this story a special quality. Her scenes with her husband were written with such tenderness I felt these two actually existed. Briggs was fiercely protective of Rynn but knew when to give her space. As a victim of a horrible attack, which left her physically and emotionally scarred, Briggs was always respectfully aware of Rynn's feelings and her fear of intimacy. They made a great couple (and their love scenes were tastefully written).

Fans of paranormal stories, especially werewolves, should check out this new series. Kennedy has such a nice, realistic style of writing and way of crafting her characters. Their dialogue sounds real, the action is well done and the pacing keeps those pages being turned. An Everlasting Bite is a quick, fantastic read. I'm looking forward to reading Silent Howl, Blue Bloods series #2, available now.
