We welcome the ARSON Book Tour

ReaderGirls would like to welcome author Estevan Vega. He is a writer and college student and he resides in Connecticut. ARSON is his third published title and went on sale yesterday. We loved the book and reviewed it here. First, we'll offer a description of what ARSON is all about:

Arson Gable is a freak. He can create fire. He never asked for it. He never wanted it. But he can't shut it off. Before now, three things were true: he both loved and despised his grandmother; his life was going nowhere; and he was alone. But when a strange girl--who feels more normal behind a mask than inside her own skin--moves in next door, Arson hopes to find something he's never had: purpose. Using what he fears most about himself, Arson must face his consuming past and confront the nightmare that is his present as he walks the fine line between boy and monster. Dark, moody, and breathtakingly relevant, Arson, the chilling chronicle of an isolated boy with unimaginable ability, is sure to ignite the hearts and minds of a new generation.

Mr. Vega has been kind enough to stop here today to share something special with everyone. Welcome Mr. Vega!

"Well, today I have the pleasure of letting you in on a little behind-the-scenes info on what went into making the ARSON audio book. First off, to anyone who has been following this tour, you know how much this book means to me, and how intense it is. Well, the recording process for the audio book was no different. Everyone involved did a great job at translating characters and playing their part. It was a blast.

We recording at a little home/garage studio in Connecticut with Tony Hollums. He was great to work with, and he did a crazy ton of editing on the book to make it sound as sweet as it does! The audio book was recording over a period of four days, most of which were from about 10 in the morning to 4 in the morning the following day, only to wake up and do it again. But, oh man, we all felt like rock stars. Going into the project, I had no idea what to expect, but the last thing I expected was to be there for more than a 10 hour day. First lesson learned: be movable and allow for plans to change. Second lesson learned: don't get burned out, which was crazy hard when you're doing several takes on the same line, trying to get tone or character or emotion right. I could tell some of my friends and family would get frustrated at me...I was wicked passionate and I tried to get everything perfect.

The finished product: very, very dank. I hope you all enjoy it. To those of you who are unaware, this audio book version of ARSON is very theatrical. There are multiple voice talents.
