Faefever by Karen Marie Moning

Publisher: Dell Publishing Company

    BOOK DESCRIPTION: "He calls me his Queen of the Night. I'd die for him. I'd kill for him, too.

    When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister's journal, she is stunned by Alina's desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister's killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it." "Mac's quest for the "Sinsar Dubh" takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V'lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

    MY REVIEW: The good thing about a snow day is being able to read more than on a regular day. This is the third book in the FEVER series and had me laughing out loud in parts (the scene between Mac and Jericho concerning a certain cake is priceless). After impatient readers get through (or simply avoid) the review of the first two novels, Moning's story is able to take off. Mac learns of other sidhe- seers living close by in Dublin and actually sees The Book on a street. Watching it change before her eyes she knows she has information for use for her advantage, which she does when she seeks V'Lane's help to visit Rowena in the Abbey. It is nice to see Mac change and grow a bit more comfortable inside her skin. She takes her abilities and the job she must do seriously, even if it means she has to trade her pink clothes and shiny sandals for black jeans and tennis shoes. Her character remains believable and her circumstances interesting.

    One problem with a series is the lack of wrapping up storylines until the last book. It is obvious by the way this one ends, there will be at least one or two more in the FEVER series. We don't learn much more about Jericho, but we do gain insight into V'Lane's world (if we can trust what he says). We also know Mac is smarter than many mistook her for and she comes up with some intriguing ideas. Ready for the next installment and hopefully, some answers.

    RATING: ++++
