Image
The Boyfriend From Hell Book Tour stops by Reader Girls today. Author E. Van Lowe has provided us with an interview with Satan. Read on to learn more about this humorous YA novel. We'll begin with the blurb. Aww, Hell No! Fifteen year-old Megan Barnett and her single mom, Suze, have a special relationship—they are friends, close friends, who do almost everything together. “But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes? Of course not…” The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again. She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago. Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando. Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships. But neither of the handsome guys is quite w...

Graphic Novel early review: Dark Swan: Storm Born #1

Image
Hardcover: 120 pages Publisher: Sea Lion Books (October 4, 2011) Story: Grant Alter Art: Dave Hamann  Original story: Richelle Mead Blurb: Eugenie Markham never asked for any of this. Until now, she's been content with her job as a freelance shaman, battling and banishing Otherworldly creatures. When a prophecy suddenly makes her the Otherworld's most popular bachelorette, Eugenie finds herself fighting off unwanted supernatural suitors, as well as the evils that begin emerging from her past... Our review: Richelle Mead's novels are always entertaining and it's great to see her stories come alive on the pages of graphic novels. I used to think graphic novels were a less respected format, usually categorized as just being 'comics'. Over time I've witnessed their change from merely being considered 'comic books' to becoming their own fully realized genre, one that is respected and admired. With the Dark Swan:   Storm Born Volume 1  g...

Never forget

Image
It has been ten years since that horrible day. There are usually a handful of days whose memories we retain throughout our lives--monumental occasions from weddings to births-- yet, not all of these dates are happy ones. So many of us, irregardless of age, can remember with clarity where they were when the news began trickling in. I was on my way to work, stuck in traffic on the Taconic Parkway, listening to a music station. Not knowing what was causing gridlock, I switched stations to news, and heard a reporter's harried breath, relating to the dj the unfurling events down in Manhattan. A plane had hit one of the World Trade Center buildings. I sat there shocked. Just weeks earlier I had accompanied my oldest daughter on a trip to see the musical,  Beauty and the Beast,  with her piano school. As the bus exited the Holland Tunnel, I excitedly pointed out the Twin Towers to her, still remembering  my own school trip there years before. Certain landmarks tou...

Its rungs are relationships, and if Cara transforms into the perfect girlfriend for guys ever-higher on the tower, she’ll reach the ultimate goal: Supreme Populazzi. And when everything goes wrong, only the most audacious act Cara can think of has a chance of setting things even a little bit right. Caitlin...

Adult book review: Naked by Megan Hart

Image
Blurb: No strings. No regrets. And no going back. I didn't think he wanted me. And I wasn't about to get involved with him, not after what I'd heard. Sure, Alex Kennedy was tall, dark and unbearably hot, but I've been burned before. When I solicited him to model for my erotic photography book, I didn't expect such a heated, passionate photo session. And now that we've crossed that line, our bodies aren't the only things that have been exposed. But I can't give my heart to a man who's so… unconventional. His last sexual relationship was with a married couple. It's enough that my ex-fiancé preferred men, I can't take that chance again no matter how much my body thrives on Alex's touch. I can't risk it, but I can't resist it, either. Alex can be very convincing when he wants something. And he wants me. My review: I'm a Megan Hart fan. I enjoy her stories, the multi-faceted characters, the complex layering of issues and confli...
